Last weekend I spoke on prayer. This weekend I will do so again. The launching pad is Luke 18:1-8 – I.e., the parable of the Unjust Judge. Prayer is one of those topics about which a lot could be / should be said. Given that I only have two weeks I am supplementing these two messages by directing you to books on prayer. I have at least thirty in my office and I suspect more at home. I will not overwhelm you.[coll_smart_padding max=”5″]
Here are five:
- Andrew Murray, With Christ in the School of Prayer (a meditative classic written in the 19th century. This is one of Sheri’s favorites.)
- Bill Hybels, Too Busy Not to Pray (A practical discussion of prayer by the pastor of Willow Creek)
- Kay Arthur, Lord Teach Me to Pray (a helpful book covering the basics)
- Phil Yancey, Prayer: Does it Make Any Difference (the thoughts of someone wrestling with the idea of prayer)
- Timothy Keller, Prayer (The NY pastor reflecting on what prayer is and how to do it)
Jump in and read. But mostly pray.
Press On,
Mike
